January 31 – February 7 - Budweiser International Snow Sculpting Championships “Viewing Week” (weather permitting) at the Riverwalk Center. In its 20th year, artists from all over the world will come together to present intricate, awe-inspiring snow sculptures. The artists will carve 20 ton / 12 foot tall blocks of snow, over 65 hours, into works of art using only hand tools, their creativity and inspiration. The awards ceremony for the teams is Sunday, January 31st and the “temporary” sculptures will remain on display until sunset on the 7th of February, weather permitting. Don’t miss seeing these once in a life time sculptures!
13 - Second Saturdays in the Arts District - 4 p.m.-8 p.m. at the Breckenridge Theatre, Fuqua Livery Stable and Tin Shop. Stroll through the Arts District on each Second Saturday of the month and enjoy new exhibitions at the Breckenridge Theatre Gallery featuring the artwork of local artists. Stop by the Fuqua Livery Stable and the Tin Shop. Free. 970-453-3364
13 – Bacchus Ball – 6 – 10 p.m. The Bacchus ball in Breckenridge kicks off the Mardi Gras celebrations and festivities. Enjoy a great evening of dancing, New Orleans style cuisine, live music, festive beverages and the crowning of the Rex and Queen! This is a ticketed event, details will be announced soon. 16 – Mardi Gras in the Mountains – 4:30 p.m. throughout downtown Breckenridge you can enjoy the Mardi Gras parade followed by festivities in pubs and restaurants throughout town! Main Street feels like Bourbon Street, just at 9,600 feet! Parade participation is free and there are cash prizes for the top three most festive entrees, contact events@gobreck.com for more information.
